Jon Hall Hyundai announces the launch of the new Sonata in early 2012

The new Sonata holds a lot of goodies and will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs.17.5 lakhs to Rs.20 lakhs.

For the 2012 model year, all Hyundai Sonata models (including Turbo and Hybrid) get a new communication system and a large screen navigation option. Most importantly, Hyundai has improved the already class-leading fuel-economy ratings for the non-hybrid Sonata versions.

Hyundai has recalibrated the base 198-horsepower four-cylinder engine to improve its fuel economy. Now both the automatic- and manual-transmission models achieve 24/35/28 mpg city/highway/combined. That’s a 2 mpg city improvement for the automatic transmission model, which is the way most models come equipped. The new rating makes the Sonata the most fuel-efficient midsize car, according to Hyundai. The 274-hp, turbo 2.0-liter also gets a 1 mpg highway improvement; it’s now rated at 22/34/26 mpg.

All models come with a standard communication system, which Hyundai calls BlueLink. It works much the same as GM’s OnStar, offering vehicle protection and convenience and emergency features: For more information on BlueLink. The optional touch-screen navigation has been upgraded to a 7-inch high-resolution screen, which is up from 6.5 inches in 2011. Sonata Limited trims now come with a three-piece panoramic sunroof as standard equipment. A backup camera is now available on the SE trim when equipped with a navigation and sunroof option. Only Limited trims had that option in 2011.

Hyundai’s Veloster Brings Ferrari Gadgets to College Kids

You’ve heard of smart technology. Now meet the brilliant car. 2012 Veloster, available at Jon Hall Hyundai in Daytona Beach, FL.

Your daughter or son may already have an eye on the Hyundai Veloster. Take in the name: someone who has velocity — just this side of hip without pretension.

Who doesn’t have fond memories of his first car? Maybe not your high-school, hand-me-down jalopy, but that first new vehicle you actually bought. The one without seat stains or mysterious rattles, and that had a little sex appeal.

At first glance it’s a two-door wagon, a burst of exaggerated, optimistic design. The long, narrow side windows capture the energy of the Nike swoop; the bulges around the wheels are exuberant. Hood intakes, creases around the nose, magnum-sized headlamps — the only thing the designers didn’t throw in was a kitchen sink.

With color choices from “electrolyte” green, “Vitamin C” orange and a vibrant red, you can pretty much match your iPod Nano. Avoid the “personalized” graphics on the exterior skin though. You might as well hang a “dork” sign around your neck.

There are practical touches like the clever side door on the passenger side, which makes for an easier entry to the back seats. It’s almost camouflaged, with the door handle secreted in dark paneling. (The driver’s side door is a bit longer.) And the rear hatch makes for efficient storage.

The 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine is a modest thing, with 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque. It’s no high-revving screamer, but it gives the Veloster a good little push down the road. (We’ll see a turbo-charged version later.)

The engine’s small size and direct-injection combine with a standard six-speed manual for 40 miles per gallon on the freeway– the target number of many cars today. Springing around town nets 28 mpg.

The Honda CR-Z hybrid, a sharply stylized competitor, has fewer horses and can’t hit 40 mpg on the highway. It gets figures of 37 and 31 respectively with the manual. The Toyota Scion tC also fits into the category of youth-oriented economy cars, and has a larger, 180-hp engine and similar price.

The Veloster’s other available transmission is a double-clutch automated system, which shifts for you or can be controlled by behind-the-wheel paddles. This type of equipment was formerly found only on high-end sports cars, showing how quickly technology trickles down these days. Today’s Ferrari is tomorrow’s college-kid runabout.

Seats are cloth, though you can opt for “leatherette “bolsters and a red-and-black combination. The plastic dashboard has a nice weave, so it doesn’t look like a single hunk of boring polymer. (Unlike the latest Honda Civic.) You can get an optional panoramic roof, too. Overall it’s upmarket and attractive.

What’s that most enticing to young buyers from Generation Gadget will be the electronics. A seven-inch touch-screen is standard; it operates everything from the Bluetooth to the stereo, which is set up to control an iPod and even shows album covers. The optional navigation system includes a rearview camera.

Jon Hall Hyundai announces Hyundai Motor America sales in October 2011 were up 23 percent.

Hyundai Motor America announces record October sales. In addition, the carmaker shatters its all-time sales record set year-end 2010!

Hyundai announced it sold 52.402 new cars and crossover vehicles in October. The number represents a 23 percent increase over the sales recorded during the same month a year ago. Hyundai’s year-to-date sales figures of 545.316 shattered the full year sales record of 538.228 set in 2010.

Leading Hyundai sales last month were the U.S.-assembled Sonata and Elantra sedans with 18.192 and 13.000 units sold, respectively. The all-new Elantra sedan saw its sales increase 37 percent over the same month a year ago, while Sonata registered a 10 percent increase in sales.

Hyundai Accent sales were down slightly from a year ago. New Accents are really just starting to get to Hyundai dealerships, so expect the vehicle to post better numbers once inventory gets better. Hyundai Santa Fe SUV was the Korean automaker’s number-four-selling vehicle with a total of 5.199 units sold in October 2011.

The popular Tucson compact crossover recorded sales of 3.777 units and was closely followed by a brand-new Hyundai Veloster 3-door coupe – a star of the October 2011′s sales chart. Hyundai sold more than 3.700 units of 2012 Veloster in its first full month on the market! This must be above all initial expectations.

Meanwhile, sales of Hyundai’s Genesis sedan and Genesis Coupe rose 10 percent to 2.602 units from 2.375 units in October 2010.

New 2012 Hyundai Veloster earns 5 star safety rating at EuroNCAP crash tests!

The 5 star safety rating for the 2012 Veloster, available at Jon Hall Hyundai, is another prime example of Hyundai’s continued goal to provide the safest vehicles at the best price possible.

When automakers start advertising their newest vehicles, many wax on about the beauty, design and performance of the car, all the way down to the number of cup holders.

What is also mentioned, although almost as an afterthought, are the safety features of the vehicle, which in reality is probably the most important aspect of any car.

That is why Hyundai is focusing less on the unique 3 door design of the 2012 Veloster, and more on the 5 star safety rating the car just received from Euro NCAP, an independent organization that assesses the safety of vehicles.

Before that rating can be given, the Velsoter has to go through a number of rigorous tests, with the results broken down into 4 different categories. The first tests were done with the adult occupant in mind, and with an incredible score of 96%, the car passed with flying colors.

The 2012 Hyundai Veloster scored high in side and rear impact tests, but where it truly excelled was in the side impact tests, scoring maximum points, even in the severe side pole test.

The high level of safety was maintained through every position in the car, with both driver and passengers receiving excellent protection in every impact.

The next test was for impacts in which child occupants were inside the vehicle, with an 18 month and a 3 year old dummy being used for the safety tests.

It was shown that the restraints held firm, meaning that the children would be at very little risk of injury. That was borne out in the final grade, with the child occupant part of the test scoring a very impressive 89%.

The pedestrian section was next, and despite only scoring 49%, the tests showed that a person struck by the Veloster would still only run a marginal risk of injury, depending on which part of the vehicle they landed on.

The final test came in the area of safety assist, with only the driver and passenger side put through their paces. The Veloster once again scores high, posting a 71%, and a large part of that high score can be attributed to Hyundai’s advanced safety technologies, which come standard on all their vehicles.

The safety features start with the six airbags which protect on all sides of the car, and continues on through to a state of the art braking system which includes and anti-lock braking system, brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution, which automatically adjusts the force to the front and rear of the vehicle, depending on the braking conditions.

The safety features are capped off by the vehicle stability management and motor-driven electric power steering which work together to keep the car stable during extreme maneuvers.

Hyundai continues to improve its award-winning sports sedan to stay ahead of the competition; the 2012 Genesis coupe boasts a powerful V-8 engine

The sophisticated Hyundai Genesis, available at Jon Hall Hyundai in Daytona Beach, FL, has some notable enhancements for the 2012 model year.

The changes include further refinements to the Genesis’ exterior, which gets a fresh, more aggressive face, thanks to a new front fascia that incorporates larger intake openings, completely redesigned front head lights—now with LED accents—and daytime running lights. The rocker panels have been re-sculpted as well, while the side window surrounds are now accented with a brushed aluminum finish that heightens the athletic appearance of the Genesis. Hyundai designers also fine-tuned the rear of the car, where redesigned tail lights and new, dual asymmetrical exhaust tips help accent a revised bumper fascia.

The Genesis’ sportier look is backed up by improved performance, too. The hi-po Genesis 5.0 R-Spec model boasts a powerful new 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 429 hp and 376 lb.-ft. of torque, yet it also achieves nearly the same EPA ratings as the Genesis 4.6, with its smaller, 4.6-liter V8. The former posts an EPA line of 16 mpg city/25 mpg highway, and the latter—leveraging a robust 385 hp and 333 lb.-ft. of torque—goes 17 mpg city/26 mpg highway. The Genesis 4.6, along with the Genesis 3.8, also gets recalibrated suspensions for an improved balance between road feel and ride comfort, as well as upgraded brake systems with larger rotors.

In addition, the Genesis 3.8 adds a larger rear stabilizer bar to reduce body roll, and its engine—Hyundai’s responsive 3.8-liter V6—now integrates gasoline direct injection (GDI). This technology significantly improves horsepower (now 333 hp), torque (increased to 291 lb.-ft.) and fuel efficiency (raised to 29 mpg highway).

All engines are now mated to Hyundai’s advanced eight-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual-shifting functionality, and not only does this new transmission improve acceleration and deliver smoother shifts, but it also increases fuel efficiency by approximately 6 percent as compared to the Genesis’ previous six-speed automatic.
